New Banking Act comes into effect

Helping banks in secret - is this to stop bankers being embarrassed that they are shit at their job? or is it to stop us marching on the streets? because if it is the latter it is only delaying the inevitable.

The UK's new Banking Act, which gives greater powers of intervention to the Bank of England, is coming into force.

The act enables the Bank to intervene more quickly to help troubled banks and protect investors.

The Bank will be able to give hidden support to stricken banks, with the aim of maintaining financial stability.

I've got a feeling that this could be the first British Government to be physically dragged from office by the people.

Everyday, I hear people saying - there is no trust anymore. I hear people say that there is an atmosphere of anarchy in the air (and no, I'm not a lefty anarchist with an agenda).

I also have the feeling that nobody in Government ever talks to the people. That they are living the sad lonely isolation of a dying animal.

The actions of the government are desparate and signal their distress and there knowledge that they have failed. Nobody believes them, there is nothing they can say or do now to win people over. The anger is building day by day.

But don't think that the other lot will do any better. We are bereft of choice and bereft of leaders. We are a nation with riddle with corruption and bully boy tactics at the top.

I would not disagree with you Marc, It is not longer just the government that is a failure - but the system as a whole.
